REVIEW: Boetz - Call To Arms Balls Out Records, 2001
7/10
Boetz - Call To Arms - cover art Ernest Robert Boetz is a guitar player from Atlanta, Georgia, who have decided to go out looking for success on his own. He is probably doing the right thing because he seems to be a great musician and having a band could lead to problems that he could do well without. The music on this cd is straight-forward hardrock with a strong blues feeling. Bands that come to mind are the 70's versions of Aerosmith and AC/DC (without the annoying vocals of course...). There is a lot of passion and feelings put down into this compact disc which makes it a lot more interesting. As a guest singer on the opening track we can hear no other than Lemmy Kilmister from Motörhead who probably realized that this guy is in possession of a big amount of talent and potential. Boetz will never follow trends and I'm extremely happy about that because this is what hardrock was meant to be like. Most of the songs on the album are very good except for "Oh Boy!" which sounds a little stupid. If you are into riff-happy blues rock than this is a quality album for you.
