REVIEW: Bolt Thrower - Honour, Valour, Pride Metal Blade Records, 2001
9/10
Bolt Thrower - Honour, Valour, Pride - cover art The British band Bolt Thrower hasn't changed much over the years except for the fact that they have become better and better at bringing us heavy, churning death metal tunes. To me and thousands of others all over the world they have always been and still are one of the best death metal bands. The only thing that speaks against them is that they sound pretty much the same from album to album and from song to song. This is also what makes them so special. They have found a sound that suits their way of playing and since it is unique they have become very successful. Another thing that makes Bolt Thrower kind of special is that they are one of very few extreme metal bands with a female member - you probably all know of their bass player Jo Bench by now since she has been a member of the band almost all the way from the very beginning. The fans of the band were probably a little concerned when Dave Ingram, the former Benediction member, joined the band as their new vocalist but I think he is doing the growling very well. Bolt Thrower has struck again and when you buy one of their albums you always know that you will get quality death metal and nothing else.
