What we've got here is the aged but mighty Bolt Thrower with a new record for 2005. Nothing more, nothing less. After a one album absence, original vocalist Karl Willetts is back to join Baz, Gaz, Jo, and the also returning Martin Kearns on another sortie, this one marking the band's 20th anniversary. 'Tis veritably hard to believe they've been plying their trade for so long, but it is true. "In a world of compromise... some don't." Such is this group. If you've ever been a fan, this record will definitely float your boat. There is nothing really new here, aside from a few subtle nuances, but this is solid Bolt Thrower. If you're new to 'em, this is as good a place as any to get acquainted. If you're a veteran of the scene yourself and massively enjoyed the hell out of Obituary's back from the dead album Frozen In Time (also from 2005) that really sounds like the band was preserved since disbanding, check out Those Once Loyal for more of the "been there, done that" aesthetic that doesn't make it any less cool to still enjoy the familiar sounds of a band you love. All that is to say buy the record, ya tight wad. God bless Jo and the boys for keeping the faith all these years. Let me close with some borrowed lyrics from "Anti-Tank (Dead Armour)": Outgunned, outnumbered though never outclassed. That about says it all.
