REVIEW: Brave - Searching For The Sun Dark Symphonies, 2002
7/10
Brave - Searching For The Sun - cover art BRAVE is the new name for the band ARISE FROM THORNS, that issued their album "Before An Audience of Stars" on the same label a year and a half ago. Now they've changed their name to BRAVE, as they wanted to distinguish between the first and the second periods of the band, not telling me much really, but they got some new members, and the music has slightly become more interesting too. BRAVE is like a progressive melodic metalband, and one can still hear the ARISE FROM THORNS parts in here, but it has been more developed, the music has become more mature, and the songwriting alot stronger. It's based around some very nice female vocals, with a rhythmsection that mainly use acoustic instruments, that flow well in the music. "Searching For the Sun" has in the end become a interesting album, although it might take a little time to get into, but it even has hitpotential in a track like "Candle in the Dark" which is just beautiful. All in all, BRAVE has here done a fine recording, that I hope can take the band even further with their next output.
