REVIEW: Breakpoint - None To Sell Perennial Quest Records, 2002
6.5/10
Breakpoint - None To Sell - cover art From Dijon, France, hails a band called Breakpoint. This band was been active since 1994. I did not know what to expect from them and after having listened to their debut album I still don't. To be honest I do not know how to describe their music. There are obvious modern neo-thrash influences presented but also an occasional Marilyn Manson vibe but the most protruding characteristic of this album is the highly melodic nature of the songs. If you like mid-period Anthrax you will probably enjoy this French band as well. It is heavy and melodic with diverse riffing and catchy choruses. The music is actually very nice and they have the potential to rise from a good band to a great one if they only find that little extra push needed. They also need to find themselves a real singer because the current one does not sound too good. Occasionally he manages to use his raw voice in a nice way but most of the time he is simply annoying to listen to. They have a very nice groovy vibe which I like a lot but somehow everything just falls apart as the vocalist starts singing. It is still a decent album which should appeal to fans of modern, riff-happy metal.
