There are a few bands who struggle in the shadows, releasing one solid album after another without gaining the wide spread recognition they are looking for. One of those acts is Germany's Burden Of Grief who have now departed from Massacre Records in favor of the younger German label Remedy Records. Having been active since the mid 90s and playing many of the summer festivals on a regular basis, the band has gained a loyal following who will not be disappointed with "Death End Road" either. I have to admit that Burden Of Grief follows a relatively safe and tried-out path with their typical Gothenburg melodic death metal sound but they always do well. The song writing is rich in details, there are a healthy dose of nice melodies and headbanger riffs and the vocals and solos are decent as well. Hardcore fans of the genre will not be disappointed with this album but those on the search for something more fresh and innovative should pass. Btw, haven't they borrowed a riff from In Flames on the track "Swallow The Sun"? Party level: high; Originality: zero.
