REVIEW: Burden Of Grief - Fields Of Salvation Remedy Records, 2004
7.5/10
Burden Of Grief - Fields Of Salvation - cover art The revolving doors at Massacre Records have resulted in the German melodic death / thrash metal veterans Burden Of Grief being forced to sign to their third label in their career. "Fields Of Salvation" is also the band's third full-length album and for those who are familiar with their music from before it will not offer any surprises. The basis is, as always in the past, tight, catchy and melodic death metal with grinding drums performed by competent musicians and spiced up with a more than decent vocalist. There are no tracks that stand out from the rest but the album rocks from start to finish and even though the same type of standard riffs are repeated a bit too often there is a certain amount of energy and aggression present at all times which prevents the music from losing the listener's attention. Even though there are no real big hits on "Fields Of Salvation", it is a nice and even album and a lot of thought has been put into the composing of every song. Burden Of Grief has been working hard for ten years now and this pays off in the end. They do not have the composing skills needed to take them to the top but they once again produce an enjoyable melodic death metal album.
