Do you like the melodic masterpieces from
bands like Dark Tranquillity and In Flames but would want the music to be more
fierce and aggressive? If you do then the new album from the German death
metal band Burden Of Grief will be most satisfying for you. As seen below the
last track of the album is a cover version of Metallica's old classic
"Master Of Puppets" which shows pretty nicely what the rest of the songs are
like: fast, furious but still very melodic and occasionally slower. The vocals
are fairly strong but on "Master Of Puppets" it really shows that the
vocalist is no James Hetfield. Burden Of Grief is one of the most interesting
bands on Massacre Records at the moment and this is one of the best melodic
death metal albums I've heard in a while. There are quite a few bands in this
genre out there today but only a few of them manage to create music of this
high quality. Considering that this is only their second label release so far
we should hear more from Burden Of Grief in the
future.
