REVIEW: Burial Shades - To The Fleshes Of My Livid Everything (MC) Beverina Productions, 1999
5.5/10
Burial Shades - To The Fleshes Of My Livid Everything (MC) - cover art I have to apologize first to you for not writing anything about this band. This is only because I do not know anything at all about them. The cd arrived to me without any information about the band or any contact information whatsoever. I think they are from Russia or at least from what used to be the Soviet Union. I was a little surprises when listening to the music on this disc. I have heard a number of bands from Russia but almost all of them have been black or death metal bands. Burial Shade is a band very hard to categorize - they have the atmosphere of a black metal band but their music is mostly slow, orchestral and a little similar to what My Dying Bride once sounded like. The vocal content consists of both deep growling and spoken, almost whispered lyrics. One thing similar to My Dying Bride is that the songs are very long indeed (three or five tracks over 40 minutes with the first one being around 20 minutes long!). If you like gothic or doom metal this could be right for you but, beware, there are no female vocals at all.
