REVIEW: Burner - Savage Killer Zerlinda Records, 2003
9.5/10
Burner - Savage Killer - cover art This is a N.W.O.B.H.M 7" pressed in 500 hand numbered copies. It is the debut release from the UK based Zerlinda Records and the release date mentioned on the cover is 2002. However it was actually released in the end of 2003. The 2 songs, Savage Killer + Lay Down Your Arms, were actually recorded in 2-1-1982. It is definitely unfortunate that the band was unable to release these 2 songs back then –have they done that, this record would have been considered as a total classic N.W.O.B.H.M release- and they had to wait 20 + years to see their work pressed, but hey, it is better (too) late than never. This is a typical sounding N.W.O.B.H.M 7". Unsurprisingly the band has a rough and ready sound and approach and they just go for the throat. Don’t expect a shinny production here or beautiful pictures on the back of the single’s envelope. Both the pictures, the sound and the approach is very black and white if you know what I mean. But boy, do these guys kick ass or what? This single is up there with the Virtue, Tokyo Blade, Bleak House, Diamond Head, Girlschool, Joker, Mythra and early Iron Maiden singles.
