REVIEW: Cadaveria - The Shadows Madame Scarlet Records, 2002
6/10
Cadaveria - The Shadows Madame - cover art CADAVERIA is the new band and you will be interested to know that their singer is non other than the long-standing vocalist of the wellknown Italians OPERA IX. Joining Cadaveria is the drummer Flegias (yes, the NECRODEATH vocalist) and the NECRODEATH bass player who is also handling the "artistic" releated issues (whatever that means) and is also the producer/engineer. (If you ask me, the guy is doing a great job in all these roles). The CADAVERIA debut full-length album is a rather short affair as it only contains the following tracks: 'Spell', 'Declaration of Spiritual Independence', 'In Memory of Shadows' Madame', 'Circle of Eternal Becoming', 'The Magic Rebirth', 'Black Glory', 'Absolute Vacuum'. The actual music moves from the extreme black to the most classical heavy metal, with some death metal elements. The lyrics deal with topics like the unknown dimenions and darkness, life & death, cosmic energies magic and nature. I was never a big fan of the vocalist's abilities and her tone, but both the guitar and bass and the keyboards that give a good orchestral feeling are doing a good job. With some improvement in the vocal department I think that this band can do so much better.
