This is the debut album from Calvarium. I think some of their members are involved in Sargeist and/or Behexen, so I was expecting another nuclear blasphemy. Well, it is blasphemy but not so furious. Often the tempo is not so fast, in comparison to the more extreme BM scene. All eight songs are very similar, except the last one that reminds me, by its slow rhythm and one-riff-at-the-time guitars, of the song "Legion" of Marduk. Generally speaking, I liked the guitars the most of all things on this album. It’s because they are good at creating mayhemic atmospheres and a real Black Metal feeling. They have fast parts, melodic tunes and riffing. But, I disliked the way vocals sound and the color of it. It seems shallow and the hall effect is ruining the entire picture. Also, drums are too simple, below the standards of the Scandinavian scene. So, when you calculate all pluses and minuses of this CD it happens its slightly over average.
