REVIEW: Cardiac Arrest - ...For Hell (demo) Self-financed, 2002
6.5/10
Cardiac Arrest - ...For Hell (demo) - cover art This is the third demo from the Swedish band Cardiac Arrest but it does not sound like a real demo. The sound quality is very good but the band also states that it is the first time they had the chance to work in a real professional studio (the EAR studio in Uppsala together with Cark Wikman). Apart from this these guys also manage to write some nice crunchy music somewhere inbetween death / thrash metal, blues and stoner rock. Unfortunately there are a couple of things that bother me here as well. Cardiac Arrest sounds way too much like modern day Entombed, both considering the raw vocals and the music. Also, the lyrics are quite boring and uninteresting (come on, "Bitch With A Whip"?) but that is far from unusual. I very seldom find any metal lyrics interesting and I will never judge a band based on this. The music is always the only thing that's important. This demo shows a band with potential but they have to push their limits in the future. I would like them to become a little tighter and more intense. Their music just sounds a little too rigid and lifeless at the moment. Not bad though, a very good demo that should be appreciated by fans of stoner rock and newer Entombed.
