REVIEW: Carnal Forge - Arent You Dead Yet? Century Media, 2004
8/10
Carnal Forge - Arent You Dead Yet? - cover art With four albums already under their wings, Sweden's Carnal Forge has become one of the most reliable bands in the new wave of death / thrash metal. They always deliver what is expected from them and, although they have not exactly reinvented themselves with each new album, they do not disappoint their fans. All ten tracks on their latest album are ultra-tight, intense and razor sharp. There is in fact no real weaknesses shown from the band except for maybe a tendency to repeat the standard death / thrash metal riffs but despite this "Aren't You Dead Yet?" is one of the most varied albums this genre has to offer today. Unlike many colleagues, Carnal Forge seem to focus more on the song writing process which makes them a very interesting band indeed. Metal definitely flows through their veins but there is also a lot of thought and hard work behind this carefully crafted work of art. I would personally have preferred a more massive and powerful production but this is probably the way they want it. Not bad at all!
