REVIEW: Carnal Lust - Whore Of Violence Diamond Productions, 2003
6.5/10
Carnal Lust - Whore Of Violence - cover art With the debut album from Carnal Lust the young but promising underground label Diamond Productions brings us their second release. This band was formed in Paris, France, in 1998 and after a couple of demos they are now ready to unleash their first full-length album. Despite the ridiculous title, "Whore Of Violence" is a nice experience for anyone into old school brutal death metal. The music is not that technical but it is melodic, aggressive and accompanied with nice growling vocals. If you enjoy old Swedish death metal in the vein of Grave, Dismember and old Entombed then this is for you. Even though this is clearly a brutal death metal release there are also some occasional thrashier influences that can be heard in a few songs and also some grindcore and punk sounds. These are not very protruding though but the ten tracks that build up the album are all well performed brutal death metal of high quality. The only problem is that they are not very original. Definitely enjoyable music but if there are a hundred bands doing the same thing it gets a little boring in the end. Stand-out tracks: "Psychotic Dementia", "Messiah".
