REVIEW: Chain Collector - Forthcoming Addiction Self-financed, 2004
8/10
Chain Collector - Forthcoming Addiction - cover art Chain Collector's heavy metal is probably the freshest sound I got to hear all summer. With musicians from Green Carnation, In The Woods, Carpathian Forest and Trail Of Tears, this quartet manages to pull off a powerful, catchy and modern form of heavy metal. All songs are carefully orchestrated, every passage has its own meaning in the actual composition. Very good song writing. The demo consists of four breathtaking tracks of which every single one has its own unique feeling and sound. The music created by the members of Chain Collector would probably appeal more to the fans of Disturbed and other such bands, but I really doubt that anyone would deny the fact that these guys know their music. Besides the soaring riffs that are usually to be found in Disturbed's music, Chain Collector adds to this collection their very own riffs in the more traditional style, thus making this part of the music not only more complex, but more exciting as well. I'm not sure I could highlight any of the songs because they all rock, but I would nevertheless like to point out my personal favourite, which is "Winter Princess". Very exciting music - worth checking out. A very good mixture of heavy metal with bits of post hardcore, small touches of thrash and tons of original ideas is what makes this demo glitter. Chain Collector has all the potential (not mentioning experience) to make the mainstream rock a lot richer with these songs, and the ones to come...

Editor's comment: Chain Collector has recently signed a contract with the Portuguese label Sound Riot Records for the release of their debut album.
