The Italian band Chaos Conspiracy released their full-length debut "Out Of Place" in 2005. It is an ambitious attempt to mix a groove from funk and dub with influences from hardcore and metal. In some parts of the record they do succeed very well in this attempt and the result is dark post-hardcore attitude with groove. Unfortunately these parts are quite rare in the sound picture, most of the time the sound is either boring or annoying. It gets boring when they try to do calmer parts and even worse when they do it for too long. The most irritating part of their sound is the voice of the vocalist. She tries hard to manage whispers, screams and clean vocals but, to be honest, she fail at all of them more or less. The screams are however her better side, but it is not enough and when these badly sung vocals add to a tiresome riff it is not pleasant to listen to. I find it very hard to stand this music and I also find it hard to imagine that someone else would like this since it is the most unbearable record I have ever heard.
