REVIEW: Cinerary - Rituals Of Desecration (EP) Deepsend Records, 2001
6.5/10
Cinerary - Rituals Of Desecration (EP) - cover art Cinerary is one of the numerous so called "all-star" bands that have been formed during the last couple of years and features members from bands such as Disgorge, Brodequin and Incestuous. Those of you who are familiar with these names will immediately realize that we are talking death metal here and not just any form of death metal but the most brutal one with pounding drums, grinding guitars and guttural growling. Fans of good old Suffocation, Cryptopsy and the Severe Torture family will certainly have an interest in this band who have not only revived the Suffocation sound but also added a modern touch of their own. Just like in most cases when experienced musicians get together to create something together the result is a well-played album with quality music. The production is also very good indeed even though the band only spent four days in the studio to finish this recording. Some eery samples give an extra deal of atmosphere to the album and more is certainly to come from Cinerary in the future as they are working on finishing their first full-length assault. Nothing groundbreaking, not a masterpiece but a quality release to enjoy for fans of blast beats and guttural growling only. The final track is great fun to listen to.
