REVIEW: Citriniti - Between The Music And Latitude Mascot Records, 2006
7/10
Citriniti - Between The Music And Latitude - cover art Creating an entirely instrumental album is not an easy task and few have succeeded in even coming close to the two amazing Liquid Tension Experiment releases. Citriniti is the name of an instrumental project hailing from Catanzaro, Italy, and features two brothers named Danilo (on drums) and Domenico (on bass) Citriniti who are around 30 years old. It takes highly experienced musicians to write music such as this but these guys know what they're doing. The instrumental performances from both individuals, as well as guesting session guitarist Fabrizio Leo, are of course highly impressive on their own but tbis is not enough if you wish to record a successful instrumental album. Where many are going wrong these two brothers hit the bull's eye. The songs do not consist of bits and pieces put together in a random fashion, instead there is a natural flow present in every single song which makes it so much more entertaining for the average listener who may not appreciate every single intricate arrangement. "Between The Music And Latitude" is definitely complex and advanced but there is also sense and logic. No-one has been able to compete with LTE so far and neither can Citriniti but they do make a decent attempt to the joy of progressive rock and fusion fans worldwide. Dreaming and soothing at times, chaotic and dynamic at others.
