REVIEW: Clawfinger - Clawfinger MVG Records, 1997
9/10
Clawfinger - Clawfinger - cover art The third album from the Swedish band Clawfinger is as good as their first ones - great aggressive music with nice lyrics fighting against racism and social injustice. Both politically and musically they can be compared to Rage Against the Machine but they are in fact even a little better than them (I'm not just saying this because I'm from Sweden, Swedish music has really reached great quality during recent years, even when it comes to metal). The mixture between fast aggressive rap and heavy electronic metal makes Clawfinger an outstanding band that everyone should have heard. Perhaps the music can be described as a mix of Rammstein, Rage Against the Machine and Nine Inch Nails and these bands aren't bad! This release contains mostly heavy songs but there are also a couple of slower ones like the final track - a great emotional ballad about a woman and mother who found no other way out of the pain than taking her own life. The lyrics cover the usual Clawfinger themes - critisizing religion, racism, egoism, emotional apathy and encouraging the listeners to be themselves. This is what Clawfinger is all about: aggressive melodic music, intelligent rhyming lyrics, humanism, social justice and self respect.
