REVIEW: Coffins - Sacrifice To Evil Spirit Living Dead Society, 2005
8/10
Coffins - Sacrifice To Evil Spirit - cover art Coffins play a well constructed style of old school doom/death metal, which isn’t easy to digest. That may discourage a listener, but in the realm of doom metal it’s a great thing!! The genre itself is repetitive, slow, and harsh. So are Coffins, but they are masters of doom, while keeping it interesting. If you like fast metal, then this isn’t for you, but if you like the torment of heavy venomous metal, then check this out. Speaking of venomous, Coffins play a cover from Venom with “Warhead”. The last two songs are extremely well recorded live tracks; recorded in Osaka Japan. Only thing I find strange with them is that one of them is the Venom cover “Warhead” being on the same disk twice, which has a short play list to begin with. The live version rules!!
