Construcdead is one of those bands you have learned to rely on by now. After two quality releases ("Repent" in 2002 and "Violadead" in 2004) you know what to expect from them - high octane death / thrash metal from the Swedish school. The third chapter in the band's history follows the same pattern. It's tight and intense and perhaps leaning a little more towards the Soilwork sound than their previous releases. The production is probably the most powerful they've had so far, this time working with Jocke Skog from Swedish seminal rap metallers Clawfinger. The members of Clawfinger interestingly also contributes with a few guest appearances on the album. Just prior to entering the studio for the recording of "The Grand Machinery" in April this year, the band parted ways with their vocalist Peter Tuthill. In his place, Jens Broman (The Defaced, Hatelight + backing vocals for Soilwork and Terror 2000) stepped in to handle the microphone during the studio sessions with a very good result. His style of singing is diverse and dynamic and he reminds me a little of former The Haunted and current Face Down vocalist Marco Aro. The best bands from this genre are characterized by excellent instrumental skills and solid song writing abilities and these two qualities are both definitely residing within the Construcdead camp. Yet another quality product from the band and their best one so far. I can't really pick any clear favorites off the album as I've been able to do with the two predecessors but the quality overall is at a slightly higher level.
