After having released their debut album "Repent" on the now Metal Blade affiliated Swedish label Cold Records they have now switched to distributor Sound Pollution's inhouse label Black Lodge for the release of their second album. For those familiar with the band's first effort or the late 90s Swedish death / thrash scene this album will not offer any surprises. Darkane and Soilwork have obviously had their musical ideas absorbed by aspiring musicians all over the country. The classic death / thrash riffing maintains the intensity throughout the album and mostly stays clear of straying towards boredom due to monotony. Vocals are alternated between a somewhat tuned out death / thrash / hardcore voice and Darkane-ish "clean" singing. Every song is performed very well indeed and you can easily tell that these guys have been friends with their respective instruments for many years already. Another competent release from one of the most promising upcoming bands who have followed in the footsteps of the first generation of Swedish death / thrash metal acts. It doesn't bring us anything new but it is well executed and the musical skills of the band members have already brought them over to Japan for a small tour. A good, solid effort that will leave most fans of the genre satisfied.
