REVIEW: Counterclockwise - demo Self-financed, 2003
6.5/10
Counterclockwise - demo - cover art Ah sweet nostalgia! I couldn’t help but feel the urge to throw in Exodus when I first listened to this demo. The drumming is solid and the beats are very reminiscent of old school thrash. I feel like this music blends a lot of rock and metal influences with the aforementioned thrash and a little bit of old-school death. The early death can be heard loud and clear on the opening of the second track. The vocals come across poorly to me however. The singing style is somewhere between Gravedigger and Megadeth but it strays out of key every now and then. The low growls are good, and I like the melodic parts on guitar. The middle section on the 1st track particularly impressed me. On a side note, the lyrics are sometimes hilariously trite, not that it really matters.
