REVIEW: Cradle Of Filth - Bitter Suites To Succubi AbraCadaver, 2001
9/10
Cradle Of Filth - Bitter Suites To Succubi - cover art I could start off this review by saying that this is no real new CoF album but then I would be lying a bit. It does indeed contain six brand new symphonies from the biggest black metal band in the world but there are also three re-recorded tracks from their first album and one cover of the Sisters Of Mercy song 'No Time To Cry'. These inbetween-albums-releases from the band are not of the same quality as the 'real' albums but 'Bitter Suites To Succubi' is at least a lot better than the disastrous 'From The Cradle To Enslave' EP. The intro of this album is however far from what we are used to hear from these British vampires and it seems like Dani hasn't put as much effort as usual into the writing process even though it is still hundreds of times better than the lyrics of most bands of today. Still, Cradle Of Filth will always be Cradle Of Filth and this album marks the beginning of a new musical era where black metal has found its way to the major label world of Sony. With the first album on Sony next year (2002) they will hopefully claim and secure the throne of darkness once again.
