REVIEW: Cradle of Filth - From the Cradle to Enslave Music For Nations, 1999
7/10
Cradle of Filth - From the Cradle to Enslave - cover art If you have heard Cradle of Filth before this EP release might be a disappointment. On this EP they have chosen to experiment a lot with their sound and it is therefore lacking a lot of their melodic music from their earlier albums and the orchestral arrangements are weaker than before, although they are still pretty good. This EP contains the Danzig cover "Death comes ripping" which is rather good and also a cover of Anathema´s "Sleepless". At least there are a few bright spots on this recording - the great female vocals of Sarah Jezebel Deva and the still very good lyrics by Dani. This is however just a short EP with only two new songs on it and hopefully we will see the old Cradle of Filth on their next release. I don't know what the band was thinking of when making this album (perhaps money?) but if you want to buy it there is still one great song here namely the title track which is completely new and doesn't appear on any of their other albums.
