REVIEW: Crush Efekt - Eclipsed Self-financed, 2001
6.5/10
Crush Efekt - Eclipsed - cover art Each day there is a new band surrendering to the trendy but still powerful wave of nu-metal. Most of these are only pale copies of the leading bands but once in a while you get the chance to listen to something interesting like Crush Efekt. As most of you already know the loose term known as nu-metal is the next stage in the evolution of the old flourishing thrash metal scene in the US with bands like Exodus, Testament and Forbidden. Crush Efekt have a lot of the nu-metal sound but they are more aggressive and harsher than most others with vocals very often touching the border to death metal. Their music is tight, intense and full of powerful riffs. Sometimes they fall into the deceitful trap of monotony but this album will keep your attention stapled for at least 3/4 of the playing time. The lyrical concept of "fuck society" might have become slightly boring by now and nu-metal might not be more than just a passing trend but Crush Efekt is still a good new American contribution to the world of metal and full of a newcomer's energy.

The album can be purchased for $10, shipping and handling included, by check (probably only if you live in the US) or money order payable to:
