Cryonic is a trio hailing from Sweden, and "Digital Encryption" is the group's debut demo EP, recorded about two years ago at Studio Soundcreation. Surprisingly enough, but Daniel (vocals, guitar, keyboards, programming), Peter (drum programming) and Mr. X (bass) have managed to deliver something extremely qualitative and definitely interesting to listen to. To be more precise, right after the electro-ambient introduction "Beginning" (and excluding the same-styled instrumental interlude “L.O.F. City”) comes the actual core of this record – tight, energetic, mid-tempo industrial metal with hard staccato guitar riffs (especially in “Failure”), and some gothic intrusions calling to mind Fields of the Nephilim's late 80’s creations, plus a dreamy closing new wave-ish ballad (“Breathing”). All in all, “Digital Encryption” could be firmly labeled an absolute must-have for adorers of The Kovenant, Deathstars, Re:Actor and/or Rammstein.
