REVIEW: Cryonic - Evil Mind Swedmetal Records, 2007
4/10
Cryonic - Evil Mind - cover art The six-piece Cryonic is hailing from the dark and cold forests in the northern part of Sweden. Founded in 2004 they now release their debut full-length “Evil Mind” on the label Swedmetal Records. The music is power metal that is so much cliché that it most of all seems to be a paint-by-numbers power metal. None of the songs are great although the opening track is tolerable. These Swedes are not at all bad at what they do, they are skilled musicians even though they perhaps need to work a little more on the song writing. And at some parts the vocals are not that great. Ether the singer is unexperienced or was in a hurry recording since there are pieces of the lead vocals that perhaps should have been better if they had tried to record it another time. Or perhaps he just could not do it, which I don’t really think is the case since there are other parts on the album where the vocals are quite good. Taken as a whole “Evil Mind” is uninteresting and mediocre, but perhaps something for the die-hard power metal fans.
