When it comes to that calm darkness, with all the world’s angst and fear just waiting under the surface, there is no band like Cult Of Luna. “Somewhere Along The Highway” is the fourth album from the Swedes and here they continue to explore their darkest sides. The songs are a little more instrumental than before and the beauty of the vast, cold landscape they paint is crushing. Cult Of Luna is in total control of what they are doing, and their mix of winding melodies, hardcore, electronic arrangements and moody atmospheres is just irresistible. One of the album's highlights is the track “Finland” that keeps balancing between angst and beauty, capturing the listener completely in its twilight. This might be the best that Cult Of Luna have done so far and if you liked their previous records, you must have this one as well.
