REVIEW: Daemusinem - Daemusinem Domine Empire Cold Blood Industries, 2002
7/10
Daemusinem - Daemusinem Domine Empire - cover art Daemusinem is a band from Italy that rose in 1999 in the ashes of two prior bands called Uncreated and Detestor. The two original band members Patrick and Gianni later on found a drummer who is well-known to fans of Italian extreme metal namely Massimo Altomare who has been playing with bands like Mortuary Drape and Black Flame. The music of Daemusinem is a mix of black and death metal in the melodic vein, perhaps you can describe them as a mix of Satyricon and old In Flames but more brutal and black than the latter one. These three young Italians have composed some interesting tracks but unfortunately I am not very fond of the vocals nor the guitar sound. Other than that this album is pretty good and some riffs are almost of good old At The Gates quality. Just listen to the track "Throne Of Illusions" and tell me if those riffs are anything else but beautiful and pure metal. However they really need to improve on the vocals for the next album if they are going to impress further on me. Daemusinem is a band that have the potential to come a long way if they only keep pushing their limits. The Italian metal scene is growing day by day and there are plenty of high quality bands coming out of that country.
