REVIEW: Damageplan - New Found Power Elektra Records, 2004
5.5/10
Damageplan - New Found Power - cover art I must admit that my expectations towards this album were pretty high. I am a dedicated Pantera-fan, and although I didn't expect this to sound like Pantera I was looking forward to hearing some more of Vinnie Paul's and Dimebag's brilliance. There aren't enough words to describe my disappointment. This album lacks all emotions. There is no anger, no complete misery, no passion! What we have here are 14 decent tracks that lack imagination and that don't let any of Dimebag's and Vinnie Paul's geniality shine through. It feels like the tracks have been made under a big hurry. And after two weeks of intense listening I still can't remember anything. And believe me I've tried to like this. I've tried hard. It really bothers me when albums end up in this sort of grayzone. I honestly don't have anything to say about this album. It's boring, and no matter how hard I try I can't find one song that sticks out enough for me to comment it. I can't even find a bad song that's worth mentioning. Everything is just insignificant. Those albums are the unfortunately worst. Especially when you're supposed to write about them. So you'll have to excuse my complete lack of imagination. It only mirrors what I've just listened to.
