This album is the first with Matte Modin behind the drums, and I say god damn! This album is good! I have always liked Dark Funeral, they are like a good old whiskey: you know what you´ll get. Because Dark Funeral has always kept their own style in the riffs, vocals and song making! Let´s say something about just the vocals, it´s very classic black metal with a touch of modern black metal. But still they manage to keep that feeling that is so important. Matte Modin is doing a fucking good mangling job behind the drums too. This album is a little different from the other albums just because the sound but you can still hear that this is Dark Funeral, even a deaf man can hear it!! I don´t think that this album contains any song that is better or worse then the other, they are all good. For example: on "The Secrets Of The Black Art" my favourite song is "My Dark Desire". Wait! Hold your horses god damn it! There is a favourite song on this album too, "An Apprentice Of Satan". I almost forgot it. And on "Vobiscum Satanas" it is "The Ineffable Kings Of Darkness". But enough with favourite songs here and there! I am already awaiting the arrival of their new album with hungry demons dwelling inside me. I have also heard that they have been holding auditions in order to find a replacement for Dominion who left the band some time ago. But who have been counting the member exchanges they have done over the years? I wonder why it is like this?! We can only speculate and likely we will not find an answer! And some time when it´s a real dark and misty night, with thunder in the sky dancing, you can always give these words a thought: "You can’t escape my wrath, for I am one of the lords. I am the keeper of your pain, I am the holder of the spear. Like a serpent I’m slithering, in a maze of sin and filth".
