REVIEW: Dead Man In Reno - Dead Man In Reno Abstract Sounds, 2006
4/10
Dead Man In Reno - Dead Man In Reno - cover art Dead Man in Reno is a metalcore band from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA. They formed in 2003 and released their self-titled debut album on Abstract Sounds. Every now and then there are parts in Dead Man in Reno’s music that feels really interesting and you might suspect that their on to something. One example is the track “Cursed” that has parts that are quite good. But most of the time the bands music follows the standard metalcore-recipe with some occasionally outbursts of more technical metal. Dead Man in Reno is a tight band and the music is heavy, but unfortunately just so boring and unoriginal that you could fall asleep. The album, which was recorded in just ten days, is not altogether bad but the band needs to work on their songwriting a lot more if they ever want to be anything else than just another boring metalcore band.
