The new release by Deathbound is definitely not breaking any new ground on the Death Metal genre, however let me expound on the reasons why. First I have to say this is not a bad album, neither is it a great one and the extremely repetitive vocal delivery didn’t particularly win me over either. Instrumentally there are some recycled riffs through the course of the album but the bulk of the music is pretty good, however I have heard other bands with nearly the same sound in the past. The production is actually quite good which surprised me, and it especially compliments the over-all sound presented on the album. The bottom line is that this is a “good” Death Metal album, (meaning it is not mediocre but neither is it by any means or astounding) it is also a very typical Death Metal album and most people have more than likely heard the same formula executed on other albums by similar bands. So check this out if you want to play it safe musically and go with a time tested formula, the album is after all only 33:18 seconds long. It should also be mentioned that the cd comes with some extra computer related multimedia content such as photo galleries and 2 videos, none of which is particularly notable. Highlight Tracks: Inside the Nothingness, Spill the Blood, Hell Today-No Tomorrow.
