REVIEW: Deeds Of Flesh - Path Of The Weakening Unique Leader Records, 1999
7.5/10
Deeds Of Flesh - Path Of The Weakening - cover art Deeds Of Flesh, hailing from southern California, formed in 1993 and have recorded several albums already. "Path Of The Weakening" was released three years ago but it has been re-released in Europe recently by the Slovakian grind / death label Erebos Productions. They are far from being a run of the mill band as fans of the band are surely willing to testify to. This is one of the most intense, technically complete and tight brutal death metal albums I've heard in a while. The drum machine (or so I thought, it is apparently real drums I have been told!) is persistent, the song structures are complex and dynamic with little room for breathing and every guitar riff is performed with precision and care. This is an album that will make all Suffocation worshippers very happy and I know there are a lot of you out there. The guttural growling is done very well too and it gives an extra touch of power and aggression to the music. Deeds Of Flesh is one of the most interesting death metal bands from the US. They aren't exactly unique but there are very few who manage to reach this high.
