REVIEW: Degenerate - Demo 2003 Self-financed, 2003
8/10
Degenerate - Demo 2003 - cover art This is a mini CD comprising 4 tracks. The beginning is interesting although due to continuous repetitions of the main inspiring rifff becomes a bit boring. By the first listening you sympathise with it, however as the CD keeps playing it becomes better and better. The last two songs have a strong, aggressive rhythm, while I like much the "war" drum rhythm of the final track. The style is something between Arch Enemy and The Haunted (and their most aggressive outbreaks). Their strongest point is the guitar riffs on which the song structures are based. The whole CD is well-made, even the cover and artwork are carefully designed. The production is clear enough, while the vocals are dirty! I rate them by 8 but I am not generous, they deserve it. I wish this mini release, to be the preface, the "breakfast" of a glorious carrier. They have good ideas and technical abilities, provided not to fall into the trap of repetitions.
