REVIEW: Dehester - Demo 1 Self-financed, 2002
8.5/10
Dehester - Demo 1 - cover art Hehehe. This is awesome! Awesome for timer wake-up on the stereo. Awesome if you’d like something that could make your headache even worse. Dehester's “Demo 1” is chaos compiled into a 3-track CD with running time a little over 6 and a half minutes. And the volume is pushed to the limit. When I first listened to it I almost jumped out of my chair, damn it was loud! You’ll never know what this band’s at! Sudden explosions and high reverbs, some water pipe leaking… I mean… I don’t know what I mean, it’s just awesome. The band consists of Dave, Coughlin and James. My guess is that James is the drummer because he is missing on this record, which contains digital drums. But I don’t mind at all, they sound great and natural. Except during a couple of seconds on the first song. ”The production quality is a bit rough” hehe. Yes it is, but it’s charming. I like it and it really helps increasing that feeling of chaos. The guitars are totally flipped out and my guess is that these guys weren’t all to sober while recording them. But it works out great. They master those lovely crazy Entombed-solos totally. Thing not of the ordinary 146: No vocals! No singing at all. And to tell the truth, I can’t think of any type of vocals that would fit here. They use some whisperings on some places but they are more like sound than singing. Wow! This is one hell of a trip!
