REVIEW: Deicide - In Torment In Hell Roadrunner Records, 2001
7.5/10
Deicide - In Torment In Hell - cover art Deicide is one of the most controversial and most talked about metal bands ever but they are also one of the most stable metal bands since they have had the same line-up since 1987 when the band was formed under the name Amon. Now, 14 years and seven albums later, they are one of the biggest brutal death metal bands in the world together with names like Cannibal Corpse and Morbid Angel who are almost like living legends to loyal fans. Roadrunner were very quick to pick up the band, realizing that they had the potential to reach the top. "In Torment In Hell" is yet another strong release from the band. Hyper-intense, tight, anti-christian and brutal it shows that Deicide is far from a band beginning to fade out. It is a little bit short but if you like any of the band's previous releases you will not be disappointed. Deicide stay true to their roots and this is what keeps them going strong. Even after they decide to retire they will always be remembered as one of the more important originators of the brutal death metal sound. This is definitely not their best album as of yet but when they have left Roadrunner they will hopefully create something great again.
