REVIEW: Demons Of Dirt - Killer Engine Hammerheart Records, 2002
3/10
Demons Of Dirt - Killer Engine - cover art Yawn and utter yawn! Demons of Dirt is a new Swedish band, crossing the line of melodic death metal and groovy death metal. You know, a little like Entombed did in their crossover period in the mid-90's. Demons of Dirt originates from the late part of 1999, so it's quite a young band, and their biography tells of two demos prior to this debut album. Still, I would have adviced alot more time in demoing, as measuring this material to any other release in the same genre of metal, this stands close to the bottom, excluding a few allright riffs in between. This is unfortunately too little to base an album upon, and "Killer Engine" is a rock n' roll downfall of Swedish metal. It's actually rare that bigger labels like Hammerheart gets this stuff out on the streets, as I didn't find anything creative or anything especially well done on this surpulus album.
