REVIEW: Deströyer 666 - Cold Steel...For An Iron Age Season Of Mist, 2002
9/10
Deströyer 666 - Cold Steel...For An Iron Age - cover art Deströyer 666 was formed in May 1994 by guitarist and song writer K.K. Warslut, formerly a member of the Australian cult band Bestial Warlust. Eight years later they are releasing their fourth album and have relocated to Europe. This is one of a few good Australian metal bands. Most of the Australian bands play violent black metal and so do Deströyer 666 too with the only difference being that they do it really well. They don't sound like most other bands either since they play extremely fast and technical black metal with lots of exciting thrashy riffs. This makes their music a lot more interesting than it would be otherwise. Another thing worth mentioning about this band is that K.K. Warslut is one of the best extreme metal vocalists in the world and his growling makes this album well worth remembering. Even though they are a very aggressive and violent band they also include some more majestic Bathory influences in their music. The production is also close to perfect thanks to the magic hands of Terje Refsnes and his Sound Suite Studios. This is definitely one of the best bands on the Season Of Mist label and I'm already looking forward to hearing more from these Australian black metal masters.
