REVIEW: Deviser - Running Sore The LSP Company, 2002
6.5/10
Deviser - Running Sore - cover art Greece is one of the strongholds for metal in Europe today but the country has not had very good luck in producing bands themselves. Apart from Rotting Christ, Septic Flesh and a few other bands the Greek scene is not very well known outside the country. There is however a long tradition of metal in the country and the black metal band Deviser was formed as early as 1989 in the land of the ancient gods. After recording two full-length albums for Mascot Records they have now been signed by the Belgian LSP Company for the release of "Running Sore" which mid-paced melodic black metal release. I was quite positively surprised when I listened to the first track because they opened up very strongly with a powerful yet atmospheric and beautiful black metal song. Unfortunately they were not able to maintain this high standard throughout the whole album but they are still a band worth checking out if you are into atmospheric and melodic black metal. This is a band definitely worthy of a better production though... Stand-out track: "Signals From Another World", "Liber Animus" (wonderful song!).
