REVIEW: Dew-Scented - Inwards Nuclear Blast, 2002
8/10
Dew-Scented - Inwards - cover art After three critically acclaimed albums and tours with among others Overkill and Death the northern German band Dew-Scented have now been picked up by Nuclear Blast. In the summer of 2001 they entered Stage One Studios to record their fourth opus together with well-known producer Andy Classen (Krisiun, Holy Moses, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter a.o.) and now the result is here. If you are a fan of the more brutal but yet technical side of death and thrash metal Dew-Scented is definitely worth checking out. If you like The Haunted, At The Gates and Slayer you will probably be able to enjoy this album also. Dew-Scented doesn't have quite the exquisite melodies of The Haunted but they are just as, perhaps even more, brutal and riff-happy. These ten tracks are uncompromising technical and deadly show-offs with some of the most powerful growling I've heard in a long time. Dew-Scented now have four full-length albums behind them and there is no doubt that they have learned a lot since they started out in 1992.
