This is first album of Diabolical Breed, but I just don’t trust that info! Even the name sounds so familiar, aside that the whole material sounds so mature. Of course, I don’t want to say this is not their first full length, but it seems so developed. This is some mixture of established Black Metal á la Dimmu Borgir and some of that grim Norwegian guitar work. The combination is successful, as both intensity and melody of the album are kept strong simultaneously. Speed of album varies through songs, from really fast ones such as opening ‘Dies Irae’ to more atmospheric ‘The Night of Shooting Stars’ that features some eerie vocals and ghoulish slow melodies. Even this song develops into something aggressive at the end. Basically, besides good riffs it’s this cold, cut off sound of guitar that attracts my attention the most. The guys decided that it would go well with massive keyboard plays and extensive use of various screaming vocals. And they were right, I noticed it the first time I heard it. Otherwise, there’s nothing essentially new here. A bit of symphony, some schizophrenia, lots of evilness and darkness, still not a bad thing to listen to at all. Concerning the non-musical aspects of album both production and cover are very good, I liked the cover a lot, not the usual fancy stuff.
