REVIEW: Dira Mortis - Architecture Of Mind Horror Records, 2003
6.5/10
Dira Mortis - Architecture Of Mind - cover art First thing you will notice is that these guys are rather young, not one over 20 at best and although their youth is obvious even from how they look at pictures you wouldn't notice it while listening to "Architecture of Mind". The material, although short running, offers pretty hard Death Metal in the traditional way. Heavy distortions, deep growl, mid tempo, catchy riffs, pretty down-tuned. That would be it basically. The material has some quality definitely, probably due to the fact that Dira Mortis have previously released two demos, so that contributed to maturity. Song structure is classic one, together with many other composing solutions, but allows you to follow the music with ease. Besides three new songs (and intro) the guys have added two older songs from their demo period. These two sound a bit more raw and thrash influenced, but carry the same mark. So, looking at their age this is good job so far, since playing techniques are ok and composing skills are good. Now, I think they should try to find something to make their music more individual and original. That would be the next logical step.
