Killing Time is an irreverent, thought-provoking look at the madness within society, religion, war, and mankind. Nothing is sacred...." />

Perhaps closer to the truth is that Killing Time is very much a mixed bag, sonically, at least. The band recalls a lot of different sounds and vibes, though this writer hears strong Voivod, Fudge Tunnel, and Prong influences, in addition to any number of other bands/styles. That is to say it is veritably hard to pigeonhole Disease Within. There is an undeniable punk edge and massive DIY energy, though this sometimes manifests itself as a lack of focus, particularly when the band roams from style to style within a singular song.
Vocals, which are split between two out of the three in this power trio, are alternatively spoken (check out the gratuitous album opener), sung, barked, _____, and _______. Lyrically this album is a sort of sociopolitical treatise on what ails America. Musically there is a lot going on throughout the album, but unfortunately this often came across as busy. Bottom line: there are some good ideas and interesting sounds here. Potential exists for the gentlemen of Disease Within and harnessing their energy with more focus would do a lot to further their cause.
