The Finnish Divine Decay now returns with the follow-up to their 2001 debut album "Songs Of The Damned". Still part of the Osmose team they deliver a powerful slab of Bay area influenced thrash metal with a touch of Amorphis and Stone (mainly in the vocals). What strikes you when you listen to this Helsinki based band is the vocalist who has a very strong, dark and raspy voice. He reminds me a lot of mid-period Testament and the second album from Divine Decay should also please fans of such bands. As you may understand by now this is pretty much a retro sounding release but it comes with a modern production which makes it more powerful. Another thing that makes their sound very powerful is that there are no less than three guitarists in the band. Divine Decay has come a long way already despite the fact that it was formed as late as 1999. It may not be that strange since there are several experienced musicians in the band. Here we can find the Suburban Tribe drummer Alec, former Gandalf guitarist Timo Nyberg and the original HIM drummer Juhana "Pätkä" Rantala. Musicianship on a high level is what you get from these guys and I would recommend you to check out "Maximize The Misery" if you enjoy the heavier side of the Bay Area sound.
