Dungortheb is a French deathmetal-band that was spawned in 1996. To date they have released two demos and played some gigs in Germany and France. I never heard of them before i did this review, and likely neither have you. The members are as follows: Gregory "Pass" Valentin; vocals and bass, Jean-Yves Motté; rythm guitar, Jean-Marc Werly; lead guitar and Hervé Joly on drums. They play fast, technical, melodic death with a touch of blackmetal. My favourites on this album is "Two Faces", with it's catchy chorus, "Twilight" and "Illusion" (even though the poor english mentioned below is at it's lowest in this one).
The production is pretty good, but may be a bit too clear. Drums are loud, but I think it fits in well with this kind of music.
The lyrics are much about dark, inner emotions like hatred, anger, suicidal-thoughts and such. Most of them are the work of Werly the guitarist. Although their english is the worst i've heard since "Agony - Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust" with H's disappering and strong accent, I found myself just looking through that because of the words themselves, and the music accompanying.
Cover-art is very professional-looking and makes a good reflection of the music (in my eyes, that is).
Overall this is a good album and a even better debut, but it's not anything amazing that you've never heard before. Dungortheb will, however, probably be a band to look for in the future.
