There are several metal bands called Dusk but this particular one is a duo from Karachi, the capital of Pakistan who have been around for almost ten years now. Those of you who didn't think that rock and metal music had reached this country may want to rethink because this is a very well done and professionally produced recording. If you want to put a label on what they do the most proper one would probably be progressive metal but this is not as complex and pretentious as Dream Theater. Instead it is more straight-forward, emotional and experimental with spoken words, impressive guitar solos, classically inspired orchestration, calm piano parts and some more aggressive metal riffs. In short there is a little bit of everything in here and it seems as if diversity is a word that lies close to the heart of these two individuals. Beauty is another word that describes this whole work of art, from the wonderful cover art to the music where they try their best to paint emotions with instruments, something that they succeed in doing. Both Faraz Anwer and Babar Shaikh are skilled instrumentalists but unfortunately the vocals on this album are sometimes rather weak. Luckily there aren't that many vocal parts though. If not exceptional so at least a good album that should please many of you who fancy progressive rock or softer metal. To take the next step I think they should focus hard on improving the combination of heavy riffing, soft piano melodies and whispering vocals.
