REVIEW: Dwole - A Requiem Of Euphoric Nihilism Root Of All Evil Records, 2000
7/10
Dwole - A Requiem Of Euphoric Nihilism - cover art If you look at the song titles of this album you must think that this is some very weird music...and you are most certainly right about that. The album seems to be carrying the undertitle "A Collection Of Unconventional Soundscapes 1995-1998" and unconventional this is for sure. Orchestral backgrounds, weird voice samples, chaotic noise and yet more strange sound samples is what you will find on this recording. I find it very hard to sit back and enjoy this kind of ambient music but it is some of the most beautiful background music you could ever imagine. The album title is very well chosen because this is pure euphoric nihilism whatever that may be to you... What I like most about this album is the classical atmosphere that brings you back to ancient Greece or any other classical period of your own choice. It is not the easiest music to listen to but the more you listen to this album the more you come to like it for what it really is - a cavalcade of melancholy and orchestral beauty. The voice samples are very important for the overall feeling induced by Dwole and without them I don't think I would like this album at all.
